Library Closed for Fall 2020 Semester

Hello friends,

For public safety the Durland Alternatives Library will be closed for the Fall 2020 semester. As of this moment, Anabel Taylor Hall where the library is located is closed until further notice.

Unfortunately we have not been able to adapt library programs to an online format because it requires access to the space and materials. Public access to the library, inter-library loan, the Cornell Lending Library, and the People’s History Art Collection are all on hold until further notice.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, and we’re actively responding to questions about patron accounts at support@alternativeslibrary.org

Here are a couple details relevant to patron accounts:

  • Library loans are extended until Spring 2020, including lending library items
  • Materials can still be returned to the Tompkins County Public Library and any library in the Finger Lakes Library System (this does NOT include lending library materials)
  • Lending library materials can be returned to Olin library in central campus.
  • Materials can be mailed to Durland Alternatives Library, 130 Anabel Taylor Hall, Ithaca NY 14853, and we will receive them as soon as we are able to get mail again

You can also leave us a message in the chat icon here in the bottom right of the screen.

Our Prisoner Express Program is still very much active.

If you’re interested in volunteering to read essays, journals, poetry, and to write letters to prisoners, please visit prisonerexpress.org for the latest information.

We wish you care in these tough times.

Sincerely,
Ryan Clover-Owens
Library DIrector
