WHAT IS FOOD JUSTICE?

Food Justice is a transformation in our food system leading to comprehensive local food distribution, care for the whole community, stewardship for the environment, and above all else, elimination of disparities and inequities in healthy food access and nutrition education.

WHAT IS A HEALTHY FOOD SYSTEM?

A health food system strives to provide foods that are fresh, nutritious, affordable, culturally-appropriate, and grown locally with care for the well-being of the land, workers, and animals.  People practicing Food Justice leads to a healthy local food system, self-reliant communities, and a healthy environment.

We have a lot of wonderful things going on in our amazing local food system and the goal of this food justice summit is to bring these efforts together to nurture a sustainable, equitable, and effective local food system.

GREENSTAR COMMUNITY PROJECTS (GSCP) FOOD JUSTICE EFFORTS

The focus of this event is to bring the community together to create a sustainable, equitable, and effective local food system. Funds from the event are used throughout the year to bring together the many passionate individuals, groups and organizations working for food justice into a united mission and action plan. GSCP also works directly with individuals and groups to foster access to healthy foods and nutrition education.
