My Name is Rachel Corrie is a one-woman stage play edited from the original writings of Corrie by actor Alan Rickman and journalist Katherine Viner. The play chronicles the life of the American activist Rachel Corrie, who traveled to Gaza in 2003 with the International Solidarity Movement to defend Palestinian homes from being demolished. She was killed on March 16th of that year by an Israeli bulldozer while protecting a host family’s house from being demolished.

The show is performed by Ashley Malloy, a recent BFA graduate of Central Connecticut State University and directed by Josh Perlstein. Ashley became interested in Palestinian rights through Professor Perlstein’s work with The Freedom Theatre, a professional company in the Jenin Refugee Camp in the West Bank.

This fall, Ashley Malloy is doing a tour of the United States. Having already received acclaim for her performance at the Rochester Fringe Festival, she is scheduled for a total of about twenty performances for the season.
