Movement-based Book Club

Peanut butter and maple cream. Peanut butter and coffee. Books and movement. How wonderful it is when we can take two things that are perfectly sublime on their own and then introduce them to each other—sparks fly!

Being a librarian means I get to connect with people, information, and ideas daily. And then connect them with each other. Sorta like a matchmaker, I guess. The Alternatives Library connected with the Tompkins County Public Library and local movement specialist Dr. Melissa Miller to create a unique program for our community–a movement-based book club. This May, we’ll be meeting weekly to explore and experience the questions and concepts posed by Katy Bowman in her book Move Your DNA: Restore Your Health Through Natural Movement.

While the book club filled up on the first day of registration (!!!) we hope to offer more programs like this. So stay tuned….
