Come celebrate the Alternatives Library’s 40th Anniversary! With food, live music, and activities for all-ages – there’s no better time to browse our unique collection.

Since its founding in 1974, the library continues its mission of supporting social change and transformative action. Prisoner Express, one of our core programs, provides correspondence and reading materials for thousands of people incarcerated in the US prison system.

Children are welcome! Besides our amazing children’s book collection, there will be games–including a people’s history scavenger hunt! If you’ve been wanting to stop by, or have never experienced the Alternatives Library, now’s your chance!

Accessibility :

The Durland Alternatives Library is wheelchair accessible and handicap parking is available at the front of the building. Food provided at this event will include sugar-free, gluten free, and vegan options. The Alternatives Library is a fragrance-free space, please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne. Thanks!
