Standing up to the Anti-muslim Biker Rally

Last week I told you I was headed to Islamberg, and some of you on this list have asked me how it went, so here’s a quick recap with a short documentary (15 minutes) about how people are standing up to anti-muslim hatred.

I took this picture, but it only shows about 5% of the actual size of the crowd. There were hundreds of people lining the dirt road.

In short, it was amazing. Hundreds of rural residents of upstate New York, of all different faiths and backgrounds, gathered in solidarity with The Muslims of America and residents of Islamberg.

The anti-muslim biker rally which was intended to intimidate people instead brought people together and forged deeper connections amongst friends and neighbors.

I was honored to be there representing the Durland Alternatives Library.

Also, I was asked if I’d share this short video about Islamberg with the DAL community. I said “of course!”

I also recommend you listen to Ute Ritz Deutch interview with Tahirah Amatul Wadud on Islamophobia and the targeting of Islamberg. Ute’s is one of the hosts of The Human Rights Show on WRFI – a fantastic production.

Please stand up to Islamophobia and share this video.
